There are three “stages” within NHSLV’s program to assist low-to-moderate income families to become successful home-owners. Subject Matter Experts (SME) assist NHSLV staff to offer the most up-to-date information available. Utilizing the SMEs long term understanding of the process will further assist participants to understand the educational component within each training topic. These skills will ultimately help First Time Home-buyers plan a course of action to achieve their goals and, when ready, help them navigate the daunting process of buying a home.
Our program covers the following topics:
1. Pre-purchase Counseling**-Managing Your Money
2. First Time Home-buyers Workshop**-FASTRAC
**A requirement of NHSLV to be eligible for the down-payment and closing cost assistance programs
3. Post-purchase Counseling-Protecting Your Investment
Upon completion of the First Time Home-buyers workshop, the participants will be equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to become a Homeowner. NHSLV does not stop there. There are numerous funding programs available to assist low-to-moderate income families to cover their down-payment and closing costs. In addition to the counseling provided by a HUD Certified Housing Counselor, NHSLV also employs a licensed mortgage lender who assists eligible first-time home-buyers with potential forgivable and amortized loans to cover down-payment and closing costs.
There is no cost for the class, however, registration is required.
