US Rep. Dent Honored for Work in Housing Counseling

On Friday, April 3, 2015, representatives from many housing counseling agencies, including Neighborhood Housing Services (NHS) of the Lehigh Valley, gathered together to recognize Congressman Charlie Dent and his efforts to help people become and remain homeowners.  He was presented with the 2015 Champion of Housing Counseling Award from the National Housing Resource Center for his dedication and advocacy for housing counseling services and his unrelenting efforts to protect families from foreclosure.

“Congressman Dent has been a strong and consistent advocate for housing counseling,” noted Stacy Milo, NHS Executive Director, “and it shows in the strength of the Lehigh Valley’s economic development and improving economy.”

Congressman Dent is the third recipient of the Champion of Housing Counseling Award, preceded by former HUD secretary Shaun Donovan and Director of HUD’s Office of Housing Counseling Sarah Gerecke.

Speakers included Olga Negron, President of the Community Action Committee of the Lehigh Valley Board of Directors, Barbara Hoellen, Homeowner, Stacy Milo, Neighborhood Housing Services of the Lehigh Valley Executive Director, Brian Hudson, PHFA Executive Director, and Bruce Dorpalen, National Housing Resource Center Executive Director.
