Posted on Oct 13, 2014 in General

Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency, PHFA, honored the work of the state’s private sector housing counselors at the Harrisburg Hilton on Monday, October 6th.  These counseling agencies extend the work of PHFA by helping state residents with questions about home ownership and home foreclosure, working to inform consumers so they make educated housing decisions.

More than 80 counseling agencies were in attendance and were thanked by remarks from Brian A. Hudson, Sr., Executive Director and CEO of the Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency and PHFA Board Chairman Glenn Moyer.

The Award of Excellence was given to Sarah Gerecke, Deputy Assistant Secretary for the Office of Housing Counseling at US Department of Housing and Urban Development.  Gerecke’s 30 year career in the field of affordable housing includes work on innovative programs for housing homeless and special needs people, as well as position in local government and the private sector.
